Acrostic Poem on SPACE

planet

Space has no air for sound to travel through

Pluto might actually be a planet after-all

A dwarf planet is smaller than mercury

Craters on Mars have frozen water in them

Earth is the only known planet with life

Ariana’s weekend homework on Gmail

Mrs. Raman,

Here is my Acrostic Poem about SPACE:

Space is a place of silence

Pluto is now a dwarf planet

Asteroid belt is in between Mars and Jupiter

Comet-Halley comes around every 76 years

Everything is called the Universe

Poetry: Tanka

Luna is Earth’s moon
Luna has lots of craters
The sun is a star
The sun is extremely hot
Someone has been on Luna

Tigers are mammals
Tigers have big furry coats
Tigers are so strong

I Am Ariana (aged 9)

I am a girl who likes playing with animals
I wonder if the world will change
I hear birds singing in the trees
I see kids having fun with their friends
I want to be a singer and dancer when I grow up
I am a girl who likes playing with animals

I pretend I’m a famous singer
I feel people touching me
I touch kittens and dogs
I worry about my family
I cry when someone hurts me
I am a girl who likes playing with animals

I understand the class treaty
I say ‘sh’ if someone is making a noise
I dream about being be a singer
I try to be the best person I can be
I hope I make it to university
I am a girl who likes playing with animals

Whose Child is This?

Whose child is this?" I asked one day
Seeing a little one out at play
"Mine", said the parent with a tender smile
"Mine to keep a little while
To bathe his hands and comb his hair
To tell him what he is to wear
To prepare him that he may always be good
And each day do the things he should"

"Whose child is this?" I asked again
As the door opened and someone came in
"Mine", said the teacher with the same tender smile
"Mine, to keep just for a little while
To teach him how to be gentle and kind
To train and direct his dear little mind
To help him live by every rule
And get the best he can from school"

"Whose child is this?" I ask once more
Just as the little one entered the door
"Ours" said the parent and the teacher as they smiled
And each took the hand of the little child
"Ours to love and train together
Ours this blessed task forever."

Poem Innovation

Hey!

Hey, Earthquake!
Your powerful arms
spare-tackles me like Batista
and scares the hell out of me
I don’t like that!

Hey, Thunder!
Your loud voice
Roars like a lion
makes me shiver like a leaf
I don’t like that!

Hey, Hurricane!
Your many strong arms
Spinning like bayblades
Hitting everything in its path
I don’t like that!

Hey, Volcano!
Your temperature is rising
Your blood is boiling
You spit out fire
I don’t like that!

Hey!

Lucky leaves live on a tree
Every leaf likes the wind pushing them around
All leaves are very light
Very big leaves sweep like a broom
Every leaf comes from a tree
Some leaves are nice and calm

Poem by Kelliemay - Grade 5

I'm Happy When
I'm happy when I go to the beach,
I'm happy when mum buys me a peach.
I'm happy when I play with my dog,
I'm happy when I walk in the fog.
I'm happy when I go to Chrisco,
I'm happy when I dance in a disco.
I'm happy when I come to school,
I'm happy when I get in the pool.
I'm happy when I play in the park,
I'm happy when I stay in the dark.
