Speech: Why I love computer games by Ben

Have you ever played computer games? I play computer games every day. They are really addictive and a lot of fun.

There are different types of computer games like action, educational, adventure, puzzle, arcade and many more. Just one click of a button and you’re on to it. You will love them like I do. If you’re feeling down you can just get onto your computer and play some games then you will be happy in ten seconds. There are educational games like math games, reading games and spelling games which can increase your knowledge. Computer games are not just about action adventure. There is learning included as well. Most of my ideas come from action and adventure games.

These computer games actually make you think a lot better. The action and the adventure make me feel like that’s me on the computer screen. I become a part of the game. You can use multiplayer games so you don’t have to play by yourself. I love playing multiplayer because I can play with people all around the world. I love online games because you can chat with people all around the world. One time my brother and I versed someone online. It was a fierce battle but I won. You can explore on different game levels. Sometimes you can get in vehicles and control the vehicle according to your command. My favourite online game is Sherwood where you take the life of a warrior in the year 1604 where you defeat monsters, spiders, skeletons and men as well. There is a game called Moon Base which is really fun. You travel into space on the moon’s rover and use your jetpack to fly around in space. You can fly to earth but it’s a bit smaller than the real one. My other favourite game is called Martian Club. You get the life of a human being. You have and olden day sports car. You get clothes and get all kinds of colours. You can make your own music and add a colourful disco mode. Another cool computer game which you have to download is called Prototype. It’s about a guy who was infected with the power to shape shift and glide in mid air. The humans are infected with the virus. The Military is against you. You can shape shift into people like the Military and hunters and a lot more. You can heal people or take their lives. My favourite game is On the Run. It is about an evil corporation who try to kill you because you know something that you’re not supposed to know. They will stop at nothing to get it out of your head. You can drive around and the evil corporation tries to destroy your car. Your mission is to get to safety and to get out. You would really like this game. It’s like an action packed car adventure computer game all in one. Now you might understand why I love computer games. It’s one of the best inventions of the 21st century. When I grow up I want to be a game technician.

Recount: Swimming Sports

A few weeks ago in week four the teachers planned for us to have swimming sports. When we were all ready to leave our classrooms we had to sit outside in the hot sun. A few minutes later all classes came outside. Mr. McMillan talked to us about what the rules were for walking and when we got to the pool. Finally we left. We were the first class to lead the whole senior syndicate. We all went to the pools to practice swimming for the people that were competing for the school and to have fun. I was sure that when we got there a lot of kids were getting excited. Everyone was exhausted from walking a long way to the pools. That was a pretty long walk. We were all happy because we knew that we could sit down. Finally when most of the classes were there Room 8 got changed in the changing rooms first. A few minutes later Mr. Oakey said that we could all have a free swim to get used to the water. Then we all had to hop out. Then Mrs. Smith called out the year 5 boys to have races and so on. A lot of the races were won. Some children came 1st other children came 2nd and some other children came 3rd. I felt happy that I won those races and that gave me a chance to practice competing for the inter school swimming sports. I was really proud of myself after the swimming sports. I also felt proud of my school for all the hard work they had done even though we came 4th.

In week four this term the whole of Kelvin Road went to Massey Park Pools. First we all had a free swim for five minutes. Everyone was having a good time. After the teachers blew the whistles everyone had to jump out. Later on we started with year 4s races. They had free style then back stroke. Then it was year 4 girls turn. They also did free style back stroke and breast stroke too. Next we did free style lengths that took a lot of time but we got through it. Later on it was year 5s turn. We did all that but it was harder. We were so exhausted when all of our races were done. Then it was year 6s which was even harder. I bet they were tired. Then we had another free swim. Next the teacher did a just for fun race. I came 3rd in mostly every race but that’s ok. Later in the day I went home with my mother and nana. I felt excited and exhausted too. I also felt happy that it was over. But it was a very good day. That was one of my best days at the pools. I was very tired.
