Mrs Raman's 12 Codes of Conduct

We are learning to:

1. Treat others the way we want to be treated.
2. Show Respect for others even when they are different from us.

History of this Blog

On October 13th 2006, Mrs Kree Raman created this Blog with the help of our ICT PD facilitator Blair Giles. The aim of the blog was to share the amazing work I did at our cool school, Kelvin Road. It also serves as a journal of my own teaching and learning as well as being a lifelong portfolio of my Cool Kids achievements.

I wanted to create an ongoing and everlasting journal of my teaching and learning. The Blog is part of my dream of being an A+ teacher of the 21st century who is prepared to teach “Anything, Anytime, Anywhere, using Any device”. I love to learn, unlearn, relearn and teach but why should I limit myself to only doing this with my own class? The Blog extends my classroom into the world. It is available to my students of the past, the present and will be there in the future.

The Blog is my programme, my planning, my whiteboard. It makes my job as teacher so much easier. Using the suspended data-projector, every morning I start the day by visiting our Blog, singing some songs from 'Our Cool Songs', reading the School Promises, Virtues, then moving on to Delicious Bookmarks. Delicious Bookmarks is where I save links of educational sites for literacy, numeracy and a variety of topics that we are studying. Many of these sites I have found in the Interface Magazine. My students are able to dip into Delicious and study the topics in class or at home and do not need to wait for me. There are also quick-links for students and their parents to our YouTube Videos, Podcasts, Student-blogs, as well as links to stuff that we participate in or are interested in such as: NASA, Be A Tidy Kiwi, Wish Upon a Star, Sign ON, Inanimate Alice, etc.

Mrs. Raman's Cool Kids is more than a Blog - it is also our 'after-school classroom'. One kid last year described it as 'home-school' seeing that she stayed away frequently but was still able to keep up to date with what was happening in class. In my class, I do not have to worry about my kids browsing the internet aimlessly as there is so much to see and do on our blog which keeps them focussed, engaged and motivated to learn. Our Blog has attracted worldwide attention and from time to time readers comment on our wonderful achievements.
